Priority 1: Immediate Action

Immediate actions:
  1. Call 911 if safety is at risk
  2. Shut off main water supply

  4. Evacuate if flooding threatens electrical systems

Priority 2: Urgent (Same Day)

  • Complete drain blockage causing backup
  • No hot water (especially in winter)
  • Major toilet overflow
  • Significant water heater leak

Priority 3: Important (24–48 Hours)

  • Slow drains that persist
  • Minor water heater issues
  • Small pipe leaks
  • Running toilet

Step-by-Step Procedures

Burst Pipe Response

  1. Turn off main water supply immediately
  2. Locate shut-off valve near meter or line entry
  3. Turn off electricity to affected area
  4. Open cold taps to drain remaining water
  5. Turn off water heater
  6. Contain water; document damage for insurance

Water Heater Emergency

Gas Water Heater:

  1. Turn gas control to OFF
  2. Turn off water supply to tank
  3. Do not use hot water

Electric Water Heater:

  2. Turn off water supply to tank
  3. Do not use hot water
